el taller 2026 presents The Grad Showcase

April 30th, 2026 | in person

Dear colleagues,

We write with an invitation to consider participating in this year’s annual showcase/workshop of graduate-student work, which will be held the afternoon/evening of April 30th in person at 53 Washington Square South on the NYU campus.

We welcome nominations or self-nominations of graduate students who would benefit from a chance to present work (the main argument of a chapter, a particular problem they’re working through, an interesting document or object, etc.) for about 15-20 minutes to other Iberianists, faculty and students, and from a discussion that will be kicked off by a member of faculty who commits to guiding the conversation.

We invite graduate students, from those early on in their dissertation writing to others about to enter the job market, or potentially even students still in coursework who are working through an interesting problem that may lead to their eventual dissertation topic.

Please fill out this google form no later than Monday, April 13 to be considered.

All students who submitted a form will be notified by April 15th whether we can include their presentation or whether we'll hold them on a wait list.

We are unfortunately not able to offset travel or lodging costs this year, so this may be a best-fit for students who are physically in the New York area this semester or who have outside travel/lodging support. We plan to host a reception with savory food and drink after the event in order to foster community and continue the conversations in a more informal manner.

We also welcome faculty volunteers to serve as respondents, to join us, and to bring their students to attend. Please reach out to us if you would like to actively participate in one of these roles for the grad showcase by emailing [email protected].

We are very excited to learn about the new work in our fields!
